These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

My friend Gina gave me the idea to post "My Favorite Things." Oprah has them and I am sure we all do too! So here is a list of the top ten items (in no specific order) I couldn't live without, and that I would buy for everyone if I were made of money:

1. My Kitchenaide - Long gone are the days of mixing with a spoon or with a ratty tatty ole' mixer. Can I see DANGER! I make sweets now way more often then I use to, maybe they are the reason for my recent weight gain? hmmmmm.

2. Queen Helene Oatmeal and Honey sugar scrub - One word -REJUVENATING!!! Seriously try this stuff! You can get it at Sally's Beauty supply. You use it two to three times a week and your face feels so soft and healthy!

3. Matrixx Sleek Look Shampoo and Conditioner - I will never buy cheap shampoo and conditioner again! This stuff is amazing. I have been growing my hair out and expect the stylist to tell me every time I need to chop a lot off. But she usually takes less than an inch! I swear it keeps my hair moisturized and healthy!! (And let's not forget my stylish, silky, sheen looking locks of hair-hahaha)

4.Spic and Span - o.k. I don't need to say much about this since I already devoted a whole post to it! But try it- it works!!

5. Kirby Vacuum

- Yes I am freakish in my vacuuming ways! I love to vacuum- it is the greatest chore ever. If Only I felt that way about the rest of my house work! Unfortunately-hint hint dad- I don't have this latest model, but oh the fun I would have if I did!! HA!

6.Scented candles - I have always been a candle person. I always have a candle burning and buy them in large quantities when I run out. I like spice smells, and baking smells- nothing fruity, herbal, or aromatherapy smelling! I love Hazelnut, Banana Nut Bread, Apples and Spice, and Toasted Cinnamon the most!

7. Zap it - I love this face wash and also- hint hint mom- need more. It is made by Melaleuca and works well. It is soft, gentle, and effective! I am a firm believer in washing your face every night.

8. Glazewear by Avon

- I love Avon's Glazewear lip gloss. I wear the Berry cool the most, but love all the colors and can't seem to quit buying them.

9. Victoria Secret Pink Sweat Pants
- These are my favorite sweats ever. They are so cute and comfy and well everybody needs at least one pair!

10.Ralph Lauren Feather Down Comforter
- (or any kind) There is nothing like snuggling down for the night, or curling up in bed to read a good book, surrounded by a luxurious feather down comforter. I sleep so much better. I have the most vivid dreams and just have a hard time getting off my bed in the morning because it is soooooo comfortable!!

And there you have it! The things I would love to buy for everyone with Oprah's money. These are a few of the things I use daily and can't live without! Try them and tell me what you think!:) Now I want all of you to post "Your Favorite things" too!!

I am Lucky!!

This last weekend I had three of my five best friends here with me- my sisters! Unfortunately, my other two BFF's Becca and Ali couldn't make it! But Hanna, Sharla, and Katie were all able to come down! Hanna was able to bring her daughter Chandler too! Can I just say BLAST! I haven't been home for almost seven months so I was really getting home sick!

They got here on Friday around 4:30. I showed them my house, (which I loved because my sisters are always so willing to compliment and make you feel good, which I appreciated)and then we just hung out and ate dinner so that they could unwind from their drive. Then later at night we had our second dinner- YES -second! (That is one great thing about my sisters, we all love to eat and aren't afraid to either!) We ordered Panda and then got some movies to watch! It was so nice to visit and relax.

Saturday morning we left fairly early and went to St. George. We shopped at the DI (of course-oh the goodies), I showed them my favorite store Rue 21 and they all loved it! And then off to Tai Pan. We had lunch in St. George and just were able to shop, laugh, and have so much fun! We came back, took a short nap and then headed out to pick up some yummy Costa Vida (thank you Katie). We had to eat fast because a few of my friends came over at 7:30 to play games.
One of the greatest things about my family as that they aren't afraid to be themselves. So they weren't afraid to joke around and tease my friends, which I love. We had fun playing Gestures and sharing funny things about our lives.

Even though my friends left late, My sisters and I headed to the store and got some treats. Then we came home and made crafts and watched some more movies!

I loved showing my sisters off on Sunday to my friends here in Cedar. It was such a relaxing weekend and I had SO MUCH fun! It was sad to see them go, but I know it won't be to much longer before I make a trip to Idaho! I love you guys so much!
(here are some pic's of us together, the girls, and game night)

The best part of having sisters is that we are all so close! People ask me all the time why we are so close. And I truly believe a big reason is our age. We are all so close in age and I love it! Also, I really believe that we were able to bond even more during FHE! And because my parents had it every Monday night, I also think that is why we are all so close! It may sound silly, but I know that is a huge part of our strong bond!! I am grateful that no matter where life takes me or what friends I have that come and go - my sisters will be constant forever! What a blessing!

Come again soon guys!! I love you all so much! I feel so blessed to have the best sisters in the world !! Love ya!

Finished Project- The Bench!

So here is my finished project! It was a lot of fun and took a little longer than I thought, but still not to long! The bench cost me $2.00 from the D.I. I knew right away it had potential and loved it, even though it was sooooo nasty.

I (with Beau's help, of course) cut out the middle and side pieces of board. I thought they were supports, but luckily they weren't. I then took off that nasty fabric. This part took more work than I thought because of the thousands of staples I had to remove one at a time with pliers. Next, I sanded the wood and then painted. My paint color changed three times before I just decided on black again.

Beau cut me a board for the base. I then added a little padding (a thin $2.00 pillow) and then stapled fabric over top of the base. The upholstery fabric cost me $2.50 for 1/2 yard. I added a few upholstery tacks, and some rick rack around the edge. So the grand total cost me- drum roll please- $8.25 to make. I did have the paint on hand so I didn't need to buy that or brushes!

I am so pleased with the turn out. I know Beau loves it too! The whole reason I bought it was because Beau hated coming home and having to stand to take off his big ole' work boots. So now he can sit down and remove his shoes (preventing me from mopping again-ha) and also tuck his boots underneath of the bench on the basket! It is so great!! Hope you are feeling inspired to make some great and share- I LOVE new ideas!!

Now all I need is a square basket to go underneath instead of the round one! Hopefully I will find one soon!

Book Tag

I was tagged by my friend Jenny, here is how it works:

Pick up the nearest book (one with at least 123 pages)
Open to page 123
Find the 5th sentence
Post the next 3 sentences
Tag 5 people (or as many as you'd like)

The book nearest to me right now is "Dragon's Gate" by Laurence Yep

" A third man followed, carrying the corpse's shoulders. Both of them were also tied around the waist with the same rope. As they lowered the corpse to the tunnel floor and freed themselves from the rope, I stared in horrified fascination at him"

dun, dun, dun,.....is that intriguing or what? HAHA

I tag the following people: Becca, Kellie, Devyn, and Alison

Sissy's new haircut!

I almost cried after Savanah got her hair cut! It turned out so cute, but makes her look so much older! Where in the world has that smiley little baby, I used to rock for hours, gone? She really is so grown up now. We cut 2 1/2 inches off her length, and added layers and side swoop bangs! She looks so cute! (you can still see her sad fever blisters around her mouth from being so sick-poor girl)

Savanah really is such a sweetheart! She is such a good girl! Her teacher is always telling me how nice she is to everyone in the class and that makes us so proud as parents! She loves school so much! She has moved up a grade in reading and loves to read anything she gets her hands on. Her favorite books are ones about animals, insects, and plants! She is such a big helper to me. We love her so much!

Happy Valentines day babe!

To MY Sweety-

The funniest thing about Beau was how persistent he was to date me! He came over all the time and kept asking me on dates. I was dating somebody else at the time, but Beau kept flippantly saying "Until you are married- you are free game!" He always said things that seemed so arrogant to me -oh like the time he said after a motorbike ride "Maybe if you are lucky, next time I will kiss ya!" (yes that is truly what he said) To which I quickly responded "Maybe if you were lucky I would let you!

I always found creative ways to invite my sisters on our dates. On one date we went canoing , and I threatened my sister Hanna to not leave me alone with him. But she had it all planned out with him. When we paddled by a dock she jumped out, leaving Beau and I alone to canoe and talk! We had been out a few times before this, but this was the first time that I changed my mind about Beau. We talked for hours. He told me all about his life and the hard things he had gone through and also shared some amazing experiences he had on his mission. I can honestly say at this point, although I didn't want to admit it, that I was falling for him! I realized how wrong I was about him. That he wasn't arrogant at all and that I had totally misjudged him! And as you all know- the rest is history! We had so much in common- motorbikes, camping, fishing, what we wanted out of life, it was hard NOT to fall in love with him!! (And I am so glad I did)

I am forever grateful for my husbands persistence! For him taking a chance on a pow-dunk girl from Iona! Sometimes I still wonder why in the world he chose me! I am truly the luckiest girl in the world! My heart still melts when he walks through the door after work!

I love you babe and I will love you forever!! Happy Valentines Day!

"Mom my Ride"- no more!

It really is a miracle that I got my van soooo sparkling clean! I almost gave up and took it in to get details. But after calling around and finding out that is wasn't cheaper than $175 anywhere (what the heck) I decided to toughen up! I literally shampooed it by hand. I have a hand tool from Kirby and I sprayed Kirby Foam (my favorite product ever for carpets) and then scrubbed it by hand! I started at 3:00 p.m. and finished at around 6:30-7:00 (it was that bad)

Who knew- my van could look soooo good! Usually it looks like this-(except w/o the Zima)

Sorry it has taken me sooooo long.....

I was tagged a while ago by my friends Rivka and Rachael and I am just now getting around to it- so sorry guys! So here is my tag about Beau and I!

Who is more stubborn? Definitely Beau!

Who kissed who first? After he asked to kiss me three times and I shut him down, he finally just took one- so he did!
