SERIOUSLY....I CRIED

O.K. I am sure you all get sick of my wretched DI finds. But being the "Thrift Goddess" (haha) I am, it is a big part of my life and passion. So you will have to deal with these posts!

I was so excited to find this!!!! Seriously, I teared up in the van. I have been saving my extra money here and there, for a new bedroom set for the girls. The one I have had my eyeballs on costs a pretty penny. So I haven't been in to much of a hurry. Although I want it badly, you also all know that I have a hard time convincing myself that paying a pretty penny is a great idea. So, I have been fine with just waiting and someday purchasing it.

WELL....wait.....NO MORE!!!

I found something even better at fractions of the cost! I still can't believe I found it! I was looking at this wretched, rickety old wood, twin poster bed. Thinking that "Hey, self, you could make this work for the girls. Just add paint and fix it up." It was only $12.00 and I was considering it. I called Beau to see if he could run over and get his opinion. (I am weird, I know. Total women, 'cause I am so indecisive and fickle minded. I need reassurance! HA!) Anyways, he said he couldn't come over. So I still sat there thinking about it, and then..........

this beauty caught my eye............

Oh my goodness. Gorgeous. I knew from this little glimpse, there was something beautiful smashed between all the other germ infested wood head boards, foot boards, and cribs! So I pulled the pieces out...... ( Even without worrying how dirty my hands were getting! Of course, it wasn't put together, but I knew this was a keeper. Although my friend happened to be there and I did ask her opinion. Which is funny, cause after I got it together I was thinking "what is wrong with you self...this is a great find")

It may not look like it now, but I could tell right away this was a high quality bed. The bed I have saved for is trundle. But I have a trundle, so I can just keep it, and heighten the bed and roll it under to make it work. I still feel all giddy and dream like! (No I didn't just say that) I can't wait to put a fresh coat of paint on it and get it ready!

SO STAY TUNED..................................

Oh..and just for fun...guess the cost!! The bedroom set I saved for was $550.00 for just the bed. It looked a lot like this, but newer.... HAPPY GUESSING!!!

GIRLS will be GIRLS

Savanah is such a good older sister. To her brother and younger sister. Savanah got some play makeup from santa for Christmas and Kennedy, of course, wants to be like Savanah. Dress like her, do whatever she is doing, and she always wants the same things Savanah has. Luckily, Savanah is so kind hearted and loves to share. I saw them playing "make-up/ dress up" and couldn't resist getting some cute shots of them!

Applying eye shadow

Decisions...what to choose next!
More eyeshadow

Blending the lip gloss

And smiles for the camera!

I love these tender little moments. Watching all my children interact and play well with each other. Something about it makes my heart swell with gratitude. Don't get me wrong, they fight like any other sibling, but it is the moments that they share, play kindly, and help each other that make me LOVE being a mother even that much more!!

Finished Bassinet

BEFORE PICTURE

Beau worked so hard and quickly on this bassinet! He did 4 coats of ebony stain (of course, you had to have known it would be black!:) It had to match my bedroom..ha!) . Then he lacquered it really well.

He also added hooks on the side for a diaper bag or baby stuff, and he built new legs. The old ones were warped and to frilly for my liking.

New Added Hooks

NEW LEGS
The best part is that the stain lets you still see the natural wood underneath. It really turned out so beautifully! I am so glad he took over 'cause the few bursts of energy I get, I still leave unfinished projects! What would I do without him?

The best part of all of it is the price! I got the bassinet for $5.00 at my favorite place, that's right, the DI. And after stain, new legs, and hooks the total cost..... a whopping $13.00!!

I keep looking at it. I keep envisioning holding my sweet little boy in my arms, smelling his hair, and looking at his face! Watching him sleep peacefully. Oh I am so excited I can hardly stand it!

My Mom is flying into Vegas soon for a visit. Beau felt bad for me 'cause I have been homesick and feeling like I will never get anything ready in the three months I have left or less. So he told me to buy her a ticket. I am so excited because she is going to help me with the bumpers and bedding for the bassinet and lots of other things I need to get done before our sweet little one arrives. Plus, my kiddos are in serious need of some GRANDMA time! And when she is the world's greatest grandma, I can't blame them!!

Being Prepared: Part 2

As you all know from a previous post that one of the words that pretty much sums up a lot of my goals is

PREPARED

We have decided as a family that we would focus our FHE's around this motto. Whether it be better prepared physically, better prepared emotionally, better prepared mentally or better prepared spiritually .

So our first FHE was being prepared physically.

My fabulous and close friend Ana has always been a great example to me about being prepared. She has her 72 hour kits together and always has had an abundant food storage. I appreciate her example and motivating me to try a little harder. Thanks ONNA!!(heehee)

So we researched a little on good things to store. We took the kids shopping with us so they could be involved in the process, and then came home and put our 72 hour food/water kits together. It was a lot of fun. I think they learned a lot too. Next week, we will finish with our clothes and essentials in our backpack and talk more about why it is good to be prepared!

Here are some great websites to help you get started (if you are interested) and help explain the importance of being prepared. If you want to learn more or start a kit just click on them. I think it is important to modify some of these to meet your families needs!

And if any of you have any good ideas to share about how to be better prepared, or something you have done...let's us know in our comments.

~More KID funnies~

Here are a few quick FUNNIES that my kiddos have said recently

We took the kiddos to McDonald's for lunch. Savanah was obviously starving 'cause she was chowing down like her food would disappear. Caleb looked at her with disgust and said "That's appropriate Savan!" (HA HA...I think he meant inappropriate)

***************************************************************************************

Caleb was eating a hamburger. When he go to the last bite, he chewed a little then quickly spit it out on his plate. He was making a funny face so I asked him what was wrong. To which he replied "It tasted gross." I asked what it tasted like and he said "Beef"

***************************************************************************************

Kennedy sweetly asked Beau "Daddy, will you marry me?" (awwwww...my heart nearly melted) Beau said "Sure".....as quick as he said this her demeanor changed and she put her hand on her hip and said in a SASSY voice "Then get me MAKEUP!"

Bassinet, Funnies, One Word

When we moved here we had the biggest U-haul you could get. Plus our van was packed to the hilt. But we still had to get rid of TONS! A lot of that stuff was baby stuff. And oh have I regretted leaving behind the bassinet. It was an old fashion wooden one that all three of my children used. I don't know what I was thinking.

Needless to say, I have been looking high and dry for a wooden bassinet. I haven't found any I have liked, unless I wanted to pay a few hundred dollars, and we all know what a cheap skate I am !( Or as I like to call myself "The Thrift Goddess" haha!)

I have almost purchased a few online with Beau's prodding. He, on the other hand, has no problem spending money! HA! But I hate doing it, when I know eventually I will find something for fractions of the cost. So I've held out.

Trust me, I have been getting worried. I haven't found anything semi-like what I envisioned. I've even almost bought the cheapo Walmart plastic one.

But AT LAST!!

Look what I found at the DI............o.k., well, Alison found it and I never would have noticed it if she hasn't pointed it out. It is perfect and it had only ever been glazed, not stained or painted. Which makes my refurbishing job easier. So here is the before picture.....

As soon as it is done, I will post pictures. Beau took over my project quickly. He took the legs off and is building new legs. He sanded it forever last night and today called and had me pick up some supplies.

I told him I was going to go ahead and stain it and he insisted that he wants to do this for me. So even though I love to refurbish, I thought it was a sweet gesture. (Plus, the fact that he freaks out if I am around stain, household cleaners, or gas. Does he not know I am still the Krylon Queen..heehee) I can't wait to see and show you the finished product!

On another note......Here are some FUNNIES that my kids have said lately!
*************************************************************************************
There was music playing downstairs. Kennedy suited up in her most wretched dress up attire, walked downstairs and yelled "Leeeeeet's get this party started!"

*************************************************************************************

Savanah: "Mom, I think I am one of the most Luckiest girls in the world"
Me: "Oh really, why?"
Savanah: "Not only does my name rhyme with a fruit....but guess what else it rhymes with?"
Me: "What?"
Savanah: " Savanah Hannah Montana"
Me: (giggling and smiling)
Savanah: "Isn't that awesome. It is so awesome!"

*************************************************************************************

The other night Caleb kept teasing Kennedy. She would whine and then he would giggle. (Typical) He had wrestled her to the ground and was teasing her and she yelled " Caleb!! I am not your play toy!"

*************************************************************************************

O.K. Now on to Resolutions

I have thought lots about my resolutions. I have yet to sit down and make a formal list. But I have stirred them around in my head a lot. I love the start of a New Year. The chance to start fresh and be better than last.
Several of my blogging friends have shared ONE WORD that sums up a lot of their goals. So I have been thinking a lot about what that one word would be.

So my word is...............

Prepared

I want to be a more prepared person. I want to be prepared for when our new baby comes. I want to be prepared with food storage if anything happen. I want to prepare my testimony so that I can share it freely. My list of things I can be better prepared for could go on and on. But you get the idea.

So I am curious...what is the one word that you want to strive for this year!!

(Oh yeah and check out our new slide show on the side!)

Sorry but I HAVE TO brag....

Seriously how did I get so lucky to marry this crazy, wonderful man?

I was having one of those days. Ya know, the kind where you are pregnant and feel pregnant. I was just thinking about how out of whack my body is and will be after baby number four. I mean come on .....how can anybody love stretch marks and cellulite? I try not to talk to much about it and make myself feel worse. I seriously love being pregnant, but I am human and still have those "fat days" as I like to call them.

I heard my husband down in the computer room...he yelled my name and told me to come down. He had uploaded a song he said reminded him of me to my IPOD (oh yeah...to brag some more....he got me a NICE one for Christmas. He had uploaded all my favorite songs, books, and movies onto it too....I tell ya, I am so lucky) Anyways, he had Trace Adkins "One hot mama" playing really loud and said "Bon, every time I hear this song, I think of you. Listen to the words" O.K. HELLO...make me cry! I needed that image boost!

I am so glad I am married to a man who loves me at all my sizes. Who loves me w/o makeup, w/o my hair done, w/o my best jeans that hide my flaws. Who loves me while I am pregnant. I know people whose husbands are so hung up on weight and want their wives to be skinny and fit all the time. Man, did I luck out or what? My husband just said to some friends at our New Years party randomly "Bon is even sexier when she is pregnant!" It was so cute!

I love this man so much. I don't know what I ever did to deserve such a loving, caring, affectionate man! I have felt so blessed lately and had to share. (Sorry...I know my love sick notions can sick people out)

Babe...thanks for always making me feel sexy...even when I am "large and in charge", even with my many flaws! You make me feel perfect in every way!! I love you!!
